Personal Statement

I am the very happily partnered mother of two daughters, grandmother of seven grandchildren. The first twenty years of my professional life were spent as a counselor, a mediator, and a diversity trainer. During that time I was also an activist in many arenas. In the 1970's a group of women and I started the Community Childcare Resource Center. In the '80's I participated in the founding of both a rape crisis center and domestic violence shelter. Although I am still an activist, I have retired from counseling and most mediation. However I love my new career as a teacher and grandmother! In my away-from-the-office time I travel, camp, go to fairs and rodeos (can you believe it?!) with my grandchildren, immerse myself in water in any form, explore various parts of the world, and laugh as much as I can.
