Dr. Gould co-founded Portland State University's Graduate Program in Conflict Resolution in 1993 and serves as its director. He also recently completed a three-year term as Chair of PSU's Philosophy Department. He has presented a wide variety of papers, workshops, and seminars in topics related to philosophy and conflict resolution.
In 1984, he co-founded the Oregon Peace Institute with Congresswoman Elizabeth Furse, and continues to serve on OPI's Board of Directors. More recently, he co-founded the Northwest Institute for Conflict Resolution and the Newhall Nonviolence Institute.

Robert Gould, a lifelong Portland resident, has worked in the areas of peace, social justice, conflict resolution, and community service for over thirty years. He counseled and taught young people about military service and peaceful alternatives in the 1960's and 1970's, and helped organize numerous peace and justice organizations during the 1970's and 1980's.

Dr. Gould is currently in the process of writing two books. One is an introduction to the field of conflict resolution for graduate students, and the other is on the philosopy of conflict resolution.
When Rob is not working, he enjoys marathons, mountain climbing, bicycling, snow sports, and water sports. "Naps are fun, too!"
